BVoc (Automotive Manufacturing Technology)

To Skill the youth of the region and prepare them for Make in India Quantum University is offering B.Voc in Automotive Manufacturing Technology from the academic year 2018-19.

In line with the UGC guidelines for B.Voc program the student will have flexible entry and exit option. The multiple entry and exit enables the learner to seek employment after any level of Award and join back as and when feasible to upgrade qualifications / skill competencies either to move higher in the job profile or in the higher educational system. This will also provide the learner an opportunity for vertical mobility to second year of B.Voc degree programme after one year diploma and to third year of B.Voc degree programme after a two year advanced diploma. The students may further move to Masters and Research degree programmes

The program planned in support with M/s Ashok Leyland Rudrapur is a CSR initiative of the University particularly targeting youth from weaker socio-economic background to be able to gain skill through hands on training and be globally employable and thereby improve livelihood conditions and earning while learning.

Programme Objective

The “B.VOC. Automotive Technology” has been formulated with a view to impart training to undergraduate students for developing their employability skills and self-employment by acquiring relevant skills and competencies directly in the Industry on the latest technologies and processes.

Course duration: 3 years

After successful completion of Ist year i.e. 2 semesters student gets a Diploma.
After successful completion of 2nd year i.e. 4 semesters student gets an Advanced Diploma.
After successful completion of 3rd year i.e. 6 semesters student gets Bachelor of Vocational Studies degree.

Structure

There shall be a total of six semesters over a 3-year period with 14 modules with 2-4 courses taught and examined in each semester.

Considering the specific needs of a modern and innovative automotive technology, applied modules have been specifically added to enhance student’s social and methodical skills.

Introductory semester shall have two months initial theory/contact classes. After completion of two months the student will be sent to Industry i.e. Ashok Leyland, Pantnagar to complete on-the-job training. Regular class room teachings will take place across all six semester in addition to the On the Job training in each of the six semesters. After completion of 5th semester, students will have to choose a specialization and accordingly do a Project Work while will be evaluated at the end of the sixth semester..

Examinations

The examinations for the B.Voc Course shall be held in six parts, in six semesters. The evaluation shall include continuous internal assessment based on evaluation/written assignments/term papers/presentations/projects/case as per the guidelines of the University from to time.

Proposed Evaluation Format:

During the said period of the course the performance of the student would be examined as follows:

  1. After completing each semester the student shall be subjected to an examination. Before a student is allowed to appear for the examination, he/she should have been present for at least 85% of the training period. The examination shall be conducted semester-wise every six months.
  2. The examination papers shall be combination of quiz-type and Short answer-type questions.
  3. Candidate failing in one semester may be allowed to reappear along with the next semester examination. However, the candidate shall not be admitted to 3rd semester without passing 1st semester, similarly, he/she will not be admitted to the 4th and 5th semester without passing the 2nd and 3rd semester respectively.
