The month of September is going to be celebrated as Nutrition Month by Quantum University.

An initiative of Quantum University to spread awareness among the masses about developing healthy eating habits.

Quantum School of Health Sciences is going to celebrate the month of September as Nutrition Month (Poshan Maah). The main objective of this nutrition month is to make the public aware of the importance of sound eating and exercising habits. Q-mates will celebrate this month by providing educational and fun resources and treats—such as information booths, posters, games, recipes, and healthy snacks—to promote healthy eating among the public. This encouraging initiative of the Quantum University to promote general health is in line with the efforts of the government of India.

The department will launch a bundle of informative campaigns, which will focus on making people aware of making informed food choices and developing sound eating habits. Saloni Arora, Shradha Singh and Renu Bala Sharma and other faculty members of the university have prepared the plans and chosen 43 students from the Nutrition and Dietetics Department to lead the program. The participants have assembled the required material including activity handouts, posters, a nutrition tip sheet for children and adults, that would allow them to teach the importance of a nutrient-rich diet.

Through this campaigns, Q-mates will share information regarding how to keep nutritious meals simple, the importance of exercising daily, how to select nutrition food when away from home and diseases caused due to deficiency of certain elements in the body. The nutrition month will also focus on pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls to eliminate the deficiencies spread among the local women. In addition to this, several campaigns will be organised to fight against malnutrition like stunting, anaemia and low birth weight in children.

On 7 September, the faculty members along with 43 students conducted an awareness campaign in Badkala village which strived to help the villagers by making them aware of the importance of eating healthy, nutritious food and regular exercise. A street show was performed by the Q-mates with the prior permission of the head of the village, which not only entertained the villagers but also imparted life-changing information to them. The street show successfully unlocked the potential of the food to enhance lives, improve health and bring people together. Q-mates gave several tips to help people to manage their weight successfully and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Similar activities will be continued throughout the month by students of Quantum School of Health Sciences.

Seeing the malnutrition and unhealthy eating habits among the masses in India, the union government has decided to celebrate the entire month of September as “Rashtriya Poshan Maah” and emphasise the need for healthy nutrition. Contributing their bit, the Quantum School of Health Sciences launched this initiative to promote general health.
